Cockaliers (Cavalier King Charles/Cocker Spaniel Hybrid)

In creating the Cockalier hybrid, breeders have combined the elegance and affectionate demeanor of the King Charles Cavalier with the energetic, affable, patient character of the Cocker Spaniel.  Both Breeds originated in England and the Cavalier is one of the most popular breeds in the UK with a rise in popularity in the USA.  Life expectancy for this hybrid is 11-15 years.  In mixing the purebreds it is thought that the Cavalier's risk for a mitral valve heart condition is minimized if not altogether removed. This "Hybrid Vigour" from mixing breeds is believed to lower the percentage of undesirable traits because the gene pool is mixed. Our Cockaliers are vet tested for heart conditions before breeding. Cockaliers come in five colors: Blenheim, Black and Tan, Ruby, Golden Tan, and Tri-Color.  Here at 3-Doodles we are breeding Cockalier to Cockalier which results in an F2 Cockalier.  This dog will be part Cocker Spaniel and part Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Affectionate and at home indoors as well.

Cavaliers have some "cat-like" traits and as you can see, Walt likes to perch on the top of our couch.

Like many other much-loved humans, they believed that they owned their dogs, instead of realizing that their dogs owned them.  ~Dodie Smith, 101 Dalmations

2/3/22 Just read an article stating Norway has banned breeding of Cavalier King Charles d/t the prevalent risk of heart disease.  However they will allow cross-breeding because of hybrid variability,
2/6/22  We are planning Spring litters from Daisy and Shiloh with Walt Spring of 2022. These beautiful girls are from Walt and Angel's 1itter.  Walt is the foundation of our Cockalier family and is doing great at age 12 1/2.  William is our CKC from a breeder with many years of good statistics regarding heart issues in their pups. Benefits of  Hybrid variability is well supported.  We will announce when it appears matings have been sucessful and early reserve deposit openeings are available.
